Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) Overview
What is the EAP?
The EAP can help you to live the life you want, to achieve your personal goals and to work through the issues that may be challenging you. The EAP is a free of charge service that provides, counseling, legal and financial consultation, and crisis intervention services. The EAP is available to you, as a Dow Jones employee, and to your immediate and household family members.

Contact the EAP at any time! The programme is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Confidentiality
The EAP is completely confidential. No information about your participation in the programme is provided to your employer.
How can the EAP help?
There are many reasons why you may wish to take advantage of these services. For example, you may wish to contact the EAP if you:
- Are dealing with a life-changing event
- Want to balance the demands of work and home life better
- Are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression
- Have a health issue that you’d like to talk through
- You or someone you love is dealing with grief and loss
- Counseling assistance in regard to child and elder care
- Have legal or financial questions
- Have concerns about substance abuse for yourself or a family member
- Have questions related to managing and working through employee-related issues
Who will answer my call at the EAP?
When you first call the EAP, you will speak to a local consultant or counsellor who will listen to your concerns and your personal situation. If you need more practical or emotional support, they will be able to provide you with a referral to a local counsellor or expert who can help you further.
Counseling for Personal Issues
The EAP provides free short-term counseling (up to 10 sessions, per issue per year) with local counselors, in a language and a location that suits you to help with any issue that is causing you concern.
Legal information
The EAP provides telephone access* to legal experts for assistance with personal legal matters. Call for help with legal issues related to:
- Family law
- Personal injury – accidents
- Consumer issues
- Landlord/tenant issues
- Estate planning, power of attorney, wills
*One session per issue per year with no limit on number of issues.
Legal experts are available for free 30-minute phone consultations per issue. Individuals are responsible for any fees associated with services requested outside of the phone consultation.
Financial information and resources
The EAP provides telephone access* to financial experts to discuss any personal financial goals or concerns. Call for help with:
- Creating a budget and managing money
- Saving for future goals
- Credit and debt management
- Life stages and money
*One session per issue per year with no limit on number of issues. Financial experts are available for free 30-minute phone consultations per issue. Individuals are responsible for any fees associated with services requested outside of the phone consultations.
