What to do when I get married or have a baby? – India
Here are some useful reminders on what you need to do in a life event. A life event can be things like: getting married and adding your spouse, having a baby and adding your new baby, changing in marital status and removing your ex-spouse. If you experience a life event during the year, you can make a change for insurance benefits within 31 days of your life event.
Getting Married
1) Marriage Leave
You are eligible for 5 working days of marriage leave that can be taken within three (3) months consecutively before or after the marriage date. Apply under Workday Time Off > Excused Time Off and enter comment: Marriage Leave.
2) Update Marital Status in Workday
Go to Workday > Personal Information > Change Marital Status
3) Update Dependent Info in Workday for insurance enrollment
The company’s medical insurance covers employee’s dependents (i.e. spouse and children, same-sex/domestic partner, parents/parents-in-law). If you would like your dependent to be enrolled, please add him/her as dependent on Workday as soon as possible within 30 days.
Go to Workday > View Profile > Actions > Benefits > View Dependents
(Required information: Full legal name, Date of Birth, Gender, Citizenship)
Having a Baby
1) Insurance – Group Maternity Coverage
The company’s medical plan provides maternity cover including prenatal and postnatal expenses relating to the pregnancy. You may refer to the insurance info in the India Benefits@aGlance > Group Insurance Plan Information, which is available in APAC My News Corp Benefits Site > Summary. For any questions, please feel free to contact our insurance broker Marsh India, or People team via Sofi.
2) Parental leave – Apply in Workday
- Let us know your Parental Leave plan as soon as practicable or at least 90 days before the leave by submitting a request in Sofi.
- Once the dates are confirmed, please submit the leave application in Workday, along with the doctor’s note with expected date of delivery or birth certificate. (Go to Workday > Time Off > Leave of Absence > Family > APAC > Parental > Primary Caregiver)
- Please be reminded that the parental leave days will include public holidays as well as Saturday & Sunday, unless local legislations stipulated otherwise.
